Programs

Falconry applies to all use of trained birds of prey to catch game.  In modern falconry, the Red-tailed Hawk and the Harris hawk are the birds most often used.  A typical program includes an opportunity to see the birds tethered along with an educational video and a display of equipment used for training and hunting. During the live demonstration, Gentry will talk about the history of falconry and provide highlights of each raptor species including biology and ecology. 

This is followed by a flying demonstration where the audience will get to see the birds in action.  The demonstration allows groups to watch the birds fly above their heads and Gentry expertly guides the birds showing off their flying and hunting skills.  Questions are encourages as it is a great educational opportunity for all. 

Demonstrations can be tailored to include additional hands-on opportunities for adults.  This is especially exciting for small or corporate groups and outings.  Volunteers can have an opportunity to assist Gentry in the demonstration. 

Each program is tailored to meet the particular needs of the audience.  The common denominator is FUN!  People of all ages enjoy the programs whether they are children being introduced to birds for the very first time, or adults who want to fulfill a "bucket list" dream of handling and seeing the birds up close.  There is nothing better than seeing the look of awe and excitement on people's faces.
