Hunting

Falconry is the sport of hunting with birds of prey
Historians believe that the sport, or art, of falconry began about 2000 BC, but no one is exactly sure where the first bird was flown.  It is believed to have begun in the Middle and Far East where people used their birds to help provide food. It was later introduced in England where it became very popular with Kings and noblemen.  The nobility of an individual actually determined the kind of bird they were allowed to possess.  You did not want to get caught with a falcon that was reserved for the King,
as you may not live long enough to regret it!

Falconry is still practiced today in the US,

but only by the lucky few!

Rabbit, Quail, Squirrel and more

Raptors have long been praised for their hunting abilities.  Remember, Hawks and Falcons were once the prized possessions of Kings and Nobility and have always been revered for their hunting ability.  This once royal sport is available to you through Hawk Manor Falconry.  There is something quite exciting about watching a bird take its prey, whether they are plucking a squirrel from the side of a tall tree, or knocking out a quail as it darts through the air.  This is how hunting began and will continue.  Now, it is a sport that you can enjoy.  Falconry hunting is a licensed hunting opportunity that guarantees an experience like no other.  In addition to providing planned hunts on public lands, Hawk Manor is affiliated with several North Carolina hunting preserves including The King Fisher Society in Laurel Hill, NC.  Call for available dates and pricing.

Hunting with Peregrine Falcons or Hawks is an experience like no other.  The Peregrine is renowned for its speed.  During its characteristic hunting swoop, the Peregrine can reach speeds of over 200 miles per hour making it the fastest member in the animal kingdom.  Hawks often hunt in packs.  These smart birds use multiple tactics when hunting squirrels – one bird will chase the rabbit and when the rabbit is busy evading the pursuing bird, another will pounce – it is an incredible sight to see.

If the thrill of the hunt is not your style, how about a Hawk Walk?
